Regarding What’s On Your Mind

“If you don’t pay appropriate attention to what has your attention, it will take more of your attention than it deserves.”

David Allen

I am a HUGE fan of David Allen, the creator of “Getting Things Done,” a productivity method I have been using for years that has helped me through some of the hardest situations of my life and enabled me to succeed.

This quote has always resonated with me because my brain LOVES to worry about things, but quietly and during really inappropriate times. For example, I’ll be kissing my wife, and my mind will suddenly pull up an image of my septic system overflowing because a pump failed.

Uff… Talk about a mood killer.

As David Allen suggests, if you don’t pay attention to that little light flashing on your mental dashboard, you’ll keep coming back to it again, and again, and again.

What a waste of time and energy!

Figure out what is bothering you, record it, and close that loop!
